Fanwork List: Ace and Luffy

I've been getting lots of positive feedback for all the Ace&Luffy gen fic I've been writing lately, with lots of people saying it's hard to find. So I thought I would try to compile a list of fic (or art*, if you have it &hearts) to share the D brotherly love

The list is divided into three categories:

Ace & Luffy fic
-they are both present and the focus of the fic

A Quiet Farewell by eiliem**:
Characters: Tiny!Ace & Tinier!Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: Ace attempts to make Luffy sit down and shut up - though not for the usual reasons.

Ace/Luffy brotherly-ness written for the anonymous op-fanforall comm. (if the author has claimed it/would like to, please let me know!)
Characters: Ace, Luffy, cameos by Zoro & Brook
Rating: G
Summary: After rescuing Ace from Marinford, Luffy worries about his brother. Ace doesn’t stand for it.

Aaaaand…Fight! by shotwatermelon:
Characters: Ace, Luffy, Bon-chan, Ivankov, mentions of Hancock & Blackbeard
Rating: PG for blood?
Summary: Ace is restless and frustrated after being rescued.
Notes: Not quite canon compliant in a few details, although it’s set after Ace’s rescue from Marinford, which the manga hasn’t covered yet

And Then There Were Pancakes by naye
Characters: Tiny!Ace & Tiny!Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: Ace is a big brother, Luffy is adorable, and pancakes are delicious.
Notes: Jossed since chapter 551, but no less adorable for it.

Becoming Brothers by eiliem:

Rating: G
Summary: 100% angst-free!Ace

Freedom and Family by eiliem:
Characters: Tiny!Ace & Tinier!Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: Ace appreciates the thought, really, but does Luffy have to wake him up in the middle of the night to have heart to hearts?

Future Kings by eiliem:
Characters: Tiny!Ace & Tinier!Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: Ace comes back from training to find Luffy has acquired a new hat - and a new dream.
Notes: SO VERY NOT CANON COMPLIANT as of Chapter 551!

Hyperactive Bouncing Rubber Home-Invaders by eiliem:
Characters: TinyGrumpy!Ace and TinierFierce/Hyperactive!Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: Ace is in a resentful, unfriendly, grouchy state of mind…and his existential angst is about to be interrupted for good.

Out of the Ocean by eiliem:
Characters: Tiny!Ace & Tinier!Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: In which Ace throws Luffy into the ocean, and then pulls him out again…and again, and again.

When in the Jungle by eiliem:
Characters: Tiny!Ace & Tinier!Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: Luffy eats questionable substances. Ace panics.


Ace or Luffy fic with reference to the other
-one of them is the main character, with more than passing mention to their relationship

1sentence Alpha Theme by daughterofdon

Rating: PG-13
Summary: Set of sentences chronicling Ace & Luffy's lives as brothers.
Notes: So very not canon compliant as of chapter 550

Birth of a Power by eiliem:

Rating: G
Summary: Luffy is going to rescue his brother no matter what – so get out of the way if you don’t want to get hurt.

Chapter 535 drabble by shayera:
Characters: Luffy, mentions of Ace
Rating: PG for effects of fatal poisoning
Summary: Luffy can’t die yet, he has a brother to save.

Conversation by shayera:
Characters: Jinbei, Ace, mentions of Luffy
Rating: PG for Impel Down
Summary: In Impel Down, there's really only one subject that doesn't hurt to talk about.
Note: So it's not Ace's POV, but close enough.

Drinking Buddies by eiliem:
Characters: Ace, Shanks & his crew, Luffy by proxy
Rating: um...PG for boozing?
Summary: Shanks and Ace turn reminiscing about Luffy into a drinking game.
this fic doesn’t fit the category 100% as it is from Shanks POV, but most of it is Ace talking about Luffy, which I why I stuck it here

Rating: G
Summary: Ace has a plan.

Hell for an Older Brother by vtm577

Rating: G
Summary:Ace reflects on Luffy in Impel Down as he draws nearer to his own execution

Rating: G
Summary: Ace reflects on his reunion with Luffy in Alabasta.

Seadream by naye:
Characters: Ace, mentions of Luffy
Rating: G
Summary: Ace dreams of water and Luffy and drowning.

Family Reunion by eiliem:

Rating: G
Summary: The Straw Hats sneak aboard Whitebeard’s ship after Ace is rescued from Marinford so Luffy can verify for himself that his brother is okay.

The Curse of The Meat Booze by sherrymarie for dethorats for the OP Exchange:
Characters: Shanks, Ben, Tiny!Ace & Tiny!Luffy
Rating: PGish? For kissing & innuendo.
Pairings: Shanks/Ben (Ben/Shanks? Does it matter?)
Summary: Shanks – with help from Ben – tells the boys a Hallowe’en ghost story

Serving Justice by naye:
Characters: Smoker, Tashigi, Ace, mentions of Luffy, Whitebeard & various others
Rating: G
Summary: Smoker believes in justice – and there was no justice in what was being done here, no dignity.
Notes: not quite canon-compliant in a few details, but still an interesting look at what a minor character may have been thinking at Marinford

Ship Without A Rudder by eiliem:
Characters: Ace, Luffy, Garp, Whitebeard & his crew
Rating: PG for blood?
Warning: Character death
Summary: The Whitebeard pirates struggle with grief, Ace is broken, and Luffy is a tiny irrepressible hurricane of energy and sunshine.


Notes:
*One restriction I am putting on the art is, please don’t send me anything from a Japanese fansite (unless it’s your own art) because I will not be able to ask the artist for permission and I understand that Japanese fan artists are very sensitive about people randomly linking to their stuff without asking first

**Yes, a lot of the stuff up here is mine, which happened because a) I wrote a lot of Ace & Luffy gen b) I didn’t have to go hunting for those titles because I already knew about them XP (give me recs so I won’t be the most prominent author up here)

***Fic for the second and third categories don't have to be gen, so long as shipping does not happen between the brothers

I should stress that this is not a rec list, but a list of any and all fic/art I can find that fits the categories. If people want to comment with stars out of five for the fic they’ve read, that could be helpful – but I’ll only post ratings if enough people respond.

I will update the list as recs come in, and also go hunting when I have a moment ^^

Finally, if you are the author of one of these fics/an artist (if I find any art) and you don’t want your fic linked here, let me know and I will take it down.
