The World Government has good people working for it - Coby, Garp, Smoker, to name a few - but it also commits genocide and widespread enslavement, perpetuates racism and discrimination, and supports the Tenryuubito.
On the other hand, Blackbeard is just slimy. He would justify the strong oppressing the weak as "fate". He's evil. On a more personal level than the World Government.
On the whole, the World Government has caused more harm than Teach, but - with the exception of the Tenryuubito - no individual within the World Government is as malicious as Blackbeard. I think?

He totally should have and yet it was a fascinating glimpse into his character! It made me go "Oh, okay, you are a pirate. You were a Shichibukai. You turned Arlong loose on East Blue. I see it now." And it made me excited for... wherever Oda's going with his character.
And it's also kind of lol and d'aaawww that he refused to promise Ace - to even pretend for him - and yet barely hours after meeting Luffy he is so thoroughly owned. XD It is the Luffy Effect.

It does open alot of other speculations.. I mean it definatlys hows that teach his crew will BIGGEST part of it, only joined him because he's strong, I think that if he falters there there will be some members leaving ((because of the brother of maggalgan saying "If he fails we'lls plit up" or something along those lines. )) but oh well enough about that... - insert stream line of words not meant to be spoken-

Only a few things:
I don´t think you can blame Jimbei for leaving Ace´ body behind. If you have to really really hurry to get someone alive out of here you can be forgiven for not takingn the dead guy (but only because he didn´t know about Blackbeard´s new ability.) But yes to his worryingly suicidal tendencies. (Without Whitebeard and Jimbei as Shichibukai it will get bad for merfolk!)
Now, Akainu, if you still attack Jimbei instead of the guy who just declared war on the World Government, is attempting to wipe out the Marines etc., you are not only too evil, but also too stupid to live. (But I want him to still be alive to fight against Blackbeard! Because, um. They can kill each other?)
Random thought, I hope Smoker gets out of here. (And Hancock and Mihawk, for that matter. And Coby. And Garp. And the Whitebeard pirates, but that doesn´t even need mentioning.)
Also, I want Luffy´s nakama. And Shanks. (Will there be another Shanks-Blackbeard confrontation?)

Fortunately I can watch Avatar now and that´s every day EXCEPT OF WEEKENDS and they´re all so cute and it´s much less angsty even though Azula is a manipulative bastard. If you spoil me I will hit you.

I know it's not Jinbei's fault for leaving Ace behind, and he needs his free hand to defend Luffy, it's just... TT____TT
I don't think he will die though - I think Oda has many interesting things planned for him. We knew his name before we even knew Luffy had a brother - that whole thing with Arlong... Jinbei was his captain and now Hacchi is back in the story and eventually we'll get to Fishman Island and... *delights in the possibilities*. It is interesting to note though, his willing-to-die-for-people thing. Ever since we've met him he's been trying to sacrifice himself to save someone, and yet - as his refusal to Ace's request suggests - he's not as much of a softie as we've been lead to believe.
Come to think of it, Iva's not such a softie, and yet: "I'm not letting anyone lay a finger on my Strawboy!" Ahaha, Luffy, turning the hardiest, stoniest of hearts into kittens. (It's not just Hancock! Everyone falls in love with Luffy... she's just the first to fall in love with Luffy XP)
Smoker is too awesome to be wasted here. (I hope) Same for Hancock - if there are consequences for her actions here, I think they will affect all of Amazon Lily. Mihawk is only allowed to lose to Zoro. Coby has to become a great Marine - worthy of a rivalry with the Pirate King. And Garp has to be around for whenever whatever's going to happen with Dragon... happens. (I hope)

Hmmmm, Shanks-Blackbeard... :S I hope not. I really really do - because I think if those two fight again, one of them isn't making it out alive. And seeing as how Blackbeard is being set up as the Anti-Luffy, I don't think he'd be the one to go down.
