Luffy can't beat him. Physically. Right? We saw that at Water 7. Although... Luffy never did try to defend himself...
Luffy also sure as hell isn't backing down. That's his brother up there and he is so close!! Now would be a really really good time for whoever opened the Gate to make their appearance...
It's unlikely that anyone will be able to distract or take over the battle with Garp to let Luffy run on up because his allies had their hands full keeping all the Marines away to let him get as far as he has.

I don't think force/strength/violence is going to get Luffy through this one.
Actually, Luffy's success so far has had little to do with his physical strength, and his Haki has only helped out twice. And yet he has made it further than any other of the "greatest pirates" assembled at Marinford (well... him and Oars, kind of). He's managed this because he has an almost magical ability to make people believe in him.
I think this... family reunion, is going to be a contest of wills.
Oda, we can haz flashbacks?
Luffy can't be thrown back again. He's come so far, only to lose ground again too often.
And when/if - but who are we kidding Luffy gets past Grandpa, he still has to go through Sengoku and pwngoat.
That will be... not good. :S
Do you think we'll see the Gate-opener before the battle ends, or will they not reveal themselves until it is time for a miraculous escape, which they will have, of course, kindly engineered? (Sanji-in-a-dress, Sanji-in-a-dress, Sanji-in-a-dress - ...except I can't see him not going to Luffy's side when he needed help. Damn.)
