AND THEN CROCODILE STEPPED IN!

that... actually was a bit disappointing for me ^^; Because at first I thought the two beheading-guys had been haki'd - Luffy was yelling for his brother, Ace was about to die and then DON! They get knocked out. (okay, so I just really really really want to see more Luffy!haki, shhh)

But then it was Crocodile. And I went aw. :(

Crocodile - Doflamingo interaction. So much lulz, and win, and BWAH! (can you imagine that a few chapters back the thought of Crocodile-Doflamingo interaction made me go "MEEP NO DONOTWANT!" - but then Crocodile nixed the team up and now the two of them are hilarious, whee random decapitation that does not actually kill anyone XP)

I am laughing so hard at Crocodile's reaction to being beheaded. So bored He hates everybody it's hilarious XP

Luffy is not Admiral level yet, which means he is definitely not Fleet-Admiral level.

Marco is Admiral-level, and Jozu is definitely Shichibukai-level (then again, depending on the Shichibukai, so is Luffy). Possibly Jozu is also Admiral-level. (and what does this mean for Ace's strength - and what does that say about Blackbeard's strength!?!)

Whitebeard... is not feeling so well. And while I'm sure he could have taken on Sengoku any day, and fought to a draw (or a win?). As he is right now, he definitely can't take Garp and Sengoku (probably - this is One Piece so... never say never >.>)

Now, unless the translation is wrong: "Garp. Looks like this war insists on the two of us participating" ... pretty much sounds like an order to engage the enemy. So far Garp has avoided this. So far he has done absolutely nothing! And now he actually has to act.

At the beginning of this war I assumed that Ace was admiral level BUT THAT WAS ALSO WHEN I ASSUMED THAT MARCO AND HIM WERE CLOSER IN AGE. I think Ace does have a good chance of being at the level of an admiral but experience might make the difference whether or not he wins against one skdfjd.

I actually forgot, for a moment, why I hate Crocodile so much. (and then I remembered Vivi and Alabasta, and the bomb and Baroque Works and the civil war and he made Vivi cry!)

Marco has thus far faced off against two of the Admirals and been equal to them. (but he hasn't gone against Akainu yet meep O_O)

Blackbeard... he couldn't have opened the Gates for them (either of them). Bon-chan opened the Gates of Impel Down while disguised as Magellan - while Blackbeard & co were still out of it from poison. And he couldn't have made it to Marinford before Luffy to open those Gates for them.

As for redemption...

I can't possibly imagine it.

The more we learn about Teach, the more despicable his actions become. Especially after Ch0 - he was on Whitebeard's ship for at least 20 years! And planning his eventual betrayal of his captain - a man who called him "son" - for all that time. 20 years.

It has been very clearly established that Teach is a horrible person -

The fact that he very often approaches life in a similar way to Luffy - believing in dreams, cheerfully asking people to join his "nakama" - only serve to very creepily highlight those instances when he is nothing like Luffy. Luffy, in his heart, is not a dishonest person, and Blackbeard has proven himself to be one of the most deceitful characters in the series - if not the most deceitful (although I have to put Crocodile and his evil in Alabasta up there as well).

Crocodile was pretty insidious and back-stabbing. But not to the same degree as Teach. Who betrayed his father and committed fratricide and then sold another brother to the World Government and... and promptly betrayed his new "patrons" for... whatever-the-hell he's planning now :S

Witness Luffy who, after only knowing Nami for a short time and then being apparently betrayed by her, refuses to believe it. Witness the lengths Luffy goes to to talk to Robin after she said she was leaving the crew, and then witness him take on the world to get her back. Witness him take on the world again for Hacchi - who had been his enemy but who he forgave (once Nami said it was OK).

With Luffy - once someone is counted nakama, or even just "friend", he will stand by them the bitter end (but because it's Luffy, it won't be bitter, or the end, because he makes everything better &hearts). The point is, this is not Blackbeard's modus operandi - any "nakama" of his who falls behind, gets left behind. They'll meet again if "fate" wills it (grrrr >_<). Or if they're standing in his way he'll kill them (if he was planning to leave Whitebeard's ship anyway, he didn't need to kill Thatch, he could have just stolen the fruit ;_;).

So... yeah, no cookies for Blackbeard. And no redemption either.

Oh Ace :( Luffy needs to get him out of those chains so he can stop giving up and fight back already.

I loved the color pic and I am very curious to see it in printed form because the colors looked really different from what Oda usually does!

My brain possibly cannot handle the awesome, because I am just going O______O and \o/ and I had a couple of moments of rolling away from the computer because I had to flail about and squeak.

ACE, YOU SHOULD NOT BE THAT OKAY WITH ALMOST GETTING EXECUTED. (Though Marco was standing by AWWWW - he was totally hanging out right there and would not have let Ace lose his head A LITTLE SLOW THOUGH, MARCO, WAY TO LET ME FREAK ME OUT.)

Good thing he was there because Hancock can't win against Aokiji - Momonaga showed that with enough of a distraction, it's possible to resist the Mero Mero Beam, and. Well. This battle. Pretty big distraction. So. If she can't Mero him - she could kick him, Logia and all, but he is an Admiral.

Luffy can't beat the admirals LUFFY PLEASE GO TO YOUR BROTHER NOW. NOW NOW NOW. ...actually LAST CHAPTER would be good, but next chapter works, too. Are you actually going to make it?!?! (That is what Jump asks each week. XD)

Garp - the damned raws are too fuzzy to really make out, but Sengoku's not making it an order. Yet. Though. He definitely said something about them not being able to let it continue like this and YES I am guessing this is a pretty solid indication of LET US GO KICK PIRATE BUTT, and if Garp doesn't comply...

But Sengoku isn't killing Ace. It's not his priority - or rather, it's too late? Oyaji is already too close, TIME TO FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.

Actually, my active hatred for Crocodile was kind of doused by the Baroque Works cover arc. Crocodile is chained up and at the mercy of the World Government, then his old employees show up to save him (when he probably doesn't even deserve to be saved!) and he just calmly lights a cigar and says, "Nope, don't feel like being rescued." And then his secret wish is revealed: he wants (still, deep-down) to be Pirate King and he just glares down at the revelation with outrage as if to say, "I thought I outgrew this!" But no, he hasn't. And then when he learns that he's going to be shipped off to Impel Down, he smiles! I may not like him, even now after he saved Ace, but I can't help but respect what a wonderful complex villain he is. Oda is awesome in making a Piccolo-like character where his redemption (not so much the become-one-of-Luffy's-nakama redemption, but a redemption nonetheless) is actually believable given the circumstances. I honestly think that after the events at Marineford are played out, he will become a real pirate once again and become one of Luffy's grudgingly respectful rivals.

I also think that not only Whitebeard, but Sengoku and Garp are going to be driven out as one of the great powers of the world, and thus set the stage for a new series of players. I think Oda kind of hinted at it when Whitebeard talks with Shanks and nostalgically mentions the old days of Roger, Garp, Sengoku, and the rest. Those days, I think, are finally coming to an end and the new generation is going to take up where it left off and start a new era. I don't know whether it's going to turn out well or not, but I do think that this is the old generation's "last hurrah."

That being said, I am seriously looking forward to seeing Sengoku and Garp back in action! We didn't get to see the entire fight with Shiki (just its incredible aftermath!) which I think was just so that the full impact of their power would blow everyone's minds when they're revealed!!

CROCODILE!!! O____O I was halfway expecting haki too - if only because we have talked so much about it - but I was also halfway don't expecting it, because it didn't look like it, and we didn't get a dramatic image of Luffy's face or anything... But I really didn't expect Crocodile of all people to step in!!

(I'm glad Marco was there and could have stopped the shiny blades, too! ^^;)

I don't think Crocodile likes the Marines/World Government very much. XD It's a "my enemy's enemy is my friend" kind of situation? I just. Feel very weird cheering on him. o_O

And then the beheading and Doflamingo is "jealous" and BWAH! I guess... If Crocodile and Doflamingo can keep each other busy so that none of them can go and kill anyone we care about, it's GREAT! :D

Aokiji mentioned being in Garp's debt back on Long Ring Long Land, too! It was the reason he didn't kill Luffy outright that time. Although now he seems to think there's no helping it. MARCO TO THE RESCUE. ^__________^

I think the reason Aokiji was a Garp fanboy was because Garp had saved him in some way even earlier? Or at least that's my interpretation! But I'm really curious about what it is, and since it's been mentioned twice, I'm certain we will find out! In five years or so. ^^;

I remember

naye calling the extra coated ship! And! It both makes sense and is awesome, and Oars' part of the plan makes sense, too! They broke through the opening in the siege walls! ^____^

...and Oars goes down again. That is probably not good. ^^;

Shirohige is indeed asking if Ace's head is still in place. It made me smile! It's such a cute and almost flippant way of asking if he's alright...

And. I worry about him, because he's seriously dying, but he keeps flooring me by being SO AWESOME. One swipe of his blade, and all the small fry goes flying! XDD

Sengoku isn't actually saying straight out that he OR Garp will join the battle, but he's heavily implying it. And. After reading chapter zero last week, we know that Sengoku + Garp = MEAN COMBO. ^^;;; Except, is Garp actually capable of joining the fray and fighting the pirates trying to save his grandson(s)? Or is Sengoku seriously underestimating Garp's conflict of interest here?

I also want to see what Coby is up to! We did see him flash by when Luffy made his appearance last chapter, so at least he's still around. :D

Random decapitation!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crocodile and DoFlamingo, they are great. And I want to see Iva´s and Jinbei´s reaction to Crocodile saving Ace!!!! "What, him?"
(Also, some/many Marines are trapped inside the siege wall. Also at least one Shichibukai. Hancock is outside the wall, otherwise she wouldn´t have seen Luffy, right? And where is Mihawk? If he´s inside the wall he´s going to be pissed, so outside, probably.)
And Marco is sooo lazy - "no, I´m just going to wait until the last second because hey, maybe someone does it for me, it´s more interesting this way" - PLEASE someone slap him for that because what the hell?
Finally Sengoku decided to just go ahead and kill Ace, I was waiting for it ever since they cut off the transmission. Of course, now that Marco is distracted and Crocodile too Sengoku could just use a knife or something. (If he doesn´t, Ace seems to be relatively safe due to, um, nobody being around to kill him at right this moment.)
Nobody except Oda knows where everyone is, but. Where is Buggy? Floating frozen in the water somewhere? And Inazuma? Probably still unconscious and lying around somewhere... And hey, where are the robots, by the way? *fails at maps*
I want to see the chains come off - FIRE!
